Understanding

Hearing loss

What are the early signs of hearing loss?

Common early signs include asking people to repeat themselves, turning the TV volume up higher than others prefer, trouble following conversations in noisy places, and a feeling that people are mumbling. If these sound familiar, a hearing test can tell you what's going on.

What causes hearing loss?

Hearing loss can be caused by ageing, long-term exposure to loud noise, ear infections, injury, certain medications, or genetics. Some cases develop gradually over years, others appear suddenly. An assessment helps identify the likely cause and the right next step.

Is hearing loss reversible?

It depends on the cause. Hearing loss from earwax buildup or an infection often improves with treatment. Age-related or noise-induced hearing loss is usually permanent, but hearing aids and other support can restore a great deal of everyday clarity.

How do I know if I need a hearing test?

If you're straining to follow conversations, relying on lip-reading, avoiding phone calls, or family members have mentioned your TV or music is too loud, it's worth booking a test. Adults over 50 are also encouraged to test every few years even without symptoms.

Diagnosis

Hearing tests

What does a hearing test involve?

A hearing test, or audiometry, involves listening to a series of tones and sounds through headphones in a quiet room and indicating what you hear. It's simple, comfortable, and typically takes 30 to 45 minutes including a discussion of your results.

Is the hearing test painless?

Yes. A standard hearing test is completely painless and non-invasive. There are no needles, no discomfort, and no preparation needed beforehand.

Do I need a doctor's referral for a hearing test?

No referral is required. You're welcome to book a hearing test directly, though if you have an ENT specialist you're already seeing, we're happy to coordinate with them.

Solutions

Hearing aids

What types of hearing aids do you offer?

We fit behind-the-ear (BTE), in-the-ear (ITE), receiver-in-canal (RIC), and completely-in-canal (CIC) styles across several leading brands, so the choice comes down to your hearing profile, lifestyle, and comfort preference.

How do I choose the right hearing aid?

It comes down to the degree of your hearing loss, your daily environment, dexterity, and budget. During your consultation, we walk through the options that suit your specific results rather than recommending one style to everyone.

Can I try a hearing aid before buying it?

Yes. We offer trial periods on most models so you can wear the device in your everyday environments — home, work, and social settings — before committing to a purchase.

Do hearing aids come with a warranty?

Yes, all hearing aids we fit include a manufacturer warranty covering repairs, and most include loss-and-damage cover for an initial period. Warranty terms vary by brand and model, and we'll walk you through the specifics for your device.

How do I clean and maintain my hearing aid?

Daily wiping with a dry soft cloth, regular wax-guard changes, and keeping the device dry when not worn go a long way. We also offer routine servicing appointments to check and deep-clean your device.

Do you accept insurance?

Coverage depends on your specific insurance provider and plan. Currently in India, only CGHS / ECHS card holders can avail reimbursement from their respective departments. Bring your policy details to your appointment and our team will help you understand what's covered. Please go through CGHS Coverage Details.

What is tinnitus and how is it treated?

Tinnitus is the perception of ringing, buzzing, or hissing sounds without an external source. Management options include sound therapy, hearing aids with tinnitus-masking features, and counselling, depending on the underlying cause.

Do you treat ear infections or wax buildup?

We offer safe, professional earwax removal. For ear infections, we can assess your symptoms and refer you to an ENT specialist for medical treatment if needed.

Pediatric care

Children's hearing

At what age should children get their first hearing test?

Newborns are ideally screened within the first month of life. Beyond that, a hearing check is recommended if a child is slow to respond to sounds, delayed in speech development, or if a parent or teacher has any concerns.

Do you conduct newborn hearing screenings?

Yes, we offer newborn and infant hearing screening. Early detection in the first weeks of life makes a significant difference to speech and language development.
